Art, man. Art.
And that will be my topic for the A to Z Blogging Challenge.
Why ‘art’? A couple of difference reasons…
1.) I’ve always had a interest in paintings and sculptures and drawings. I love the worlds
they create, the emotion they convey, and the meanings those works can carry. They are, I suppose, visual forms of books. Or maybe an artist would say that a book is a long-form of a painting… whatever.
2.) I’ve always enjoyed reading works of fiction that include elements of art. Yes, I even read things like The Da Vinci Code because of it’s focus on art.
3.) As a writer, I’m always looking for inspiration. A few years ago I was introduced to a statue (which I’ll talk about later and thus won’t name here) that become the thematic inspiration for a novel and for a character in that novel. I’m hoping that if I expose myself to more art, I’ll expose myself to more inspiration.
4.) Finally, I just like to learn, you know? And despite everything I’ve written above, I’ve spent very little time learning about and viewing art. Using art as the topic for this challenge will afford me that opportunity to finally dig a little deeper into the art world.
My plan then, is to write posts on specific artists and/or specific works. I want to include photos of the art as well as some history and interesting facts. I also want to try and include posts about novels and poems that use artistic works in some way. Maybe I’ll look at classical art in pop culture and things like that.
In other words, I want to do all those things I mentioned above for all the reasons I mentioned even higher above, but I want to be creative.
I want to fun.
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing you again!

Thank you! Look forward to seeing more of you and can’t wait to check out your stuff!
Looking forward to reading your blog each day! Cheers!
Thanks for stopping by…and that ‘reading your blog each day’ thing really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy! And maybe a little bit of pressure… 🙂
Nice theme…I visit my home in the UK each year and we’re intending visiting Florence and Rome this late summer to show my 11 year old the beauty, your blog should be a nice taster for us, cheers.
Enjoying the A to Z Challenge Maggie@expatbrazil.
And now I’m jealous that you get to see all those places… I have been to both Florence and Rome, but it was right when I was out of college, quite awhile ago. Loved both places and would go back in a heart beat. So are you currently in Brazil?
Second art blog I have visited today! Great theme!
Happy A-Z April 🙂
The second? Oh man. I have competition…the pressure…. 🙂
I can’t wait to come back and check out the art you choose to highlight. It’s an area that I don’t spend a lot of time learning about, although I wish I did.
Thanks for writing!
Thanks Rebecca! I also, kinda can’t wait to see what kind of art I chose to highlight… 🙂 In fact, I’m really waiting to see what comes up today!
