Art, man.  Art.

And that will be my topic for the A to Z Blogging Challenge.

Why ‘art’?  A couple of difference reasons…

1.) I’ve always had a interest in paintings and sculptures and drawings. I love the worlds

they create, the emotion they convey, and the meanings those works can carry. They are, I suppose, visual forms of books.  Or maybe an artist would say that a book is a long-form of a painting… whatever.

2.) I’ve always enjoyed reading works of fiction that include elements of art.  Yes, I even read things like The Da Vinci Code because of it’s focus on art.

3.) As a writer, I’m always looking for inspiration.  A few years ago I was introduced to a statue (which I’ll talk about later and thus won’t name here) that become the thematic inspiration for a novel and for a character in that novel.  I’m hoping that if I expose myself to more art, I’ll expose myself to more inspiration.

4.) Finally, I just like to learn, you know? And despite everything I’ve written above, I’ve spent very little time learning about and viewing art.  Using art as the topic for this challenge will afford me that opportunity to finally dig a little deeper into the art world.

My plan then, is to write posts on specific artists and/or specific works.  I want to include photos of the art as well as some history and interesting facts. I also want to try and include posts about novels and poems that use artistic works in some way.  Maybe I’ll look at classical art in pop culture and things like that.

In other words, I want to do all those things I mentioned above for all the reasons I mentioned even higher above, but I want to be creative.

I want to fun.
